Abha, 4 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1447 AH (21 April 2026)

The Society of Culture and Arts in Abha has launched a package of cultural and artistic events in the city to mark World Heritage Day, with leading artists, artisans and heritage enthusiasts, as part of its efforts to raise awareness of the national heritage and present it through contemporary creative approaches.

Events Blending Art and Heritage

The events included a wide range of activities combining the visual arts with folk heritage, including photography, fine art and heritage fashion shows, along with handicrafts and exhibits reflecting the richness of Aseer's cultural heritage and its artistic and craft diversity tied to the local environment.

An Interactive Cultural Experience

The event aimed to offer a complete experience that lets visitors discover the details of heritage life up close through live demonstrations of traditional crafts and folk arts, passing this cultural legacy on to new generations through modern approaches that combine interaction and knowledge.

Cultural Activity and Community Reach

The society said the events extend its role in supporting cultural and artistic activity in the region, noting that holding the event inside a shopping mall was intended to widen its reach to every segment of the community and draw visitors and tourists to engage with heritage in a modern setting.

Strong Turnout and Public Engagement

The events drew a notable turnout of residents and visitors, who engaged closely with the different stands, especially the heritage exhibits presenting detailed models of life in the past, and the artworks inspired by the Aseer environment that reflected the link between creativity and cultural roots.

World Heritage Day, marked on 18 April each year, is an international occasion spotlighting the importance of preserving cultural and human heritage and strengthening efforts to safeguard and sustain it, which these events embody in a form that combines authenticity and renewal.
