Royal Commission for AlUla Launches "Bounties of AlUla" Season 2026–2027 to Support Farming, Sustainability and Farmers
The Royal Commission for AlUla has announced the launch of the "Bounties of AlUla" agricultural season 2026–2027, a step aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural development, raising production efficiency and empowering farmers, in support of the AlUla vision and Saudi Vision 2030.
The season is part of an integrated strategy to develop the governorate's agricultural sector, built on digital governance, improved value chains and stronger competitiveness for local products in the market. The commission has surveyed and registered more than 4.2 million palm trees, with more than 1.5 million palms enrolled in a smart tracking system using QR codes, helping to raise production quality and improve marketing and export opportunities.
AlUla has more than 20,500 hectares of farmland producing around 130,000 tons of dates a year, along with nearly 14,000 tons of citrus from more than 400,000 trees, under plans that aim to raise the agricultural sector's total output to SAR 1.8 billion by 2035 and lift date sales to SAR 1.507 billion, of which SAR 1.226 billion is earmarked for export.
The commission continues to serve more than 7,100 farmers through agricultural extension and technical and veterinary support programs, along with specialized training and efforts to increase the number of farms certified under the Saudi Dates mark, strengthening the quality and competitiveness of local products.
On sustainability, the commission is implementing circular economy and natural resource management initiatives, including the production of more than 334,000 cubic meters of compost from agricultural waste, along with modern irrigation projects targeting a 47% cut in water consumption by 2035 across more than 4,000 hectares at a number of farming sites in the governorate.
The "Bounties of AlUla" season also enriches the visitor experience through seasonal events and programs that link local agricultural products to AlUla's cultural identity, with platforms that bring farmers, productive families and entrepreneurs together with investors and visitors, strengthening economic opportunities and supporting AlUla's standing as a sustainable agricultural and tourism destination.
