45.7 Million Visitors Drive Record Growth in Saudi Entertainment in the First Half of 2026
The Kingdom's entertainment sector delivered a standout performance in the first half of 2026, with entertainment events and activities attracting 45.7 million visitors, a figure that reflects the sector's continued growth, supported by the General Entertainment Authority's (GEA) efforts to develop the regulatory environment, raise service quality and strengthen investment appeal in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The same period saw more than 2,500 licenses issued for entertainment and supporting activities, a step that drives the sector's expansion and supports the diversity of events and investment opportunities, while providing a flexible regulatory environment that makes it easier to operate according to approved standards.
To strengthen compliance, the authority carried out more than 8,500 inspection visits to entertainment activities across the Kingdom's regions, verifying adherence to regulatory requirements, raising safety levels and improving the quality of services offered to visitors.
The authority also continued to simplify the investor journey by coordinating with 29 government bodies to unify regulatory procedures, speeding up services and improving government integration, and issued 1,127 classification certificates for entertainment facilities and activities under a system designed to raise performance quality and encourage the adoption of best operating practices.
The sector's indicators point to a widening investment base, with the number of companies operating in entertainment passing 7,200, while the overall satisfaction index for entertainment activities reached 96%, reflecting the high quality of the visitor experience.
In support of investors, the authority gave more than 400 investors access to visitor-experience measurement tools and prepared more than 900 reports analyzing satisfaction and performance, supporting the development of events and better operational decisions. It also handled 586 complaints during the second quarter of the year under a system aimed at strengthening transparency and raising service quality.
Majed bin Khalid Al Gharabi, Head of the Regulatory Affairs Sector at the General Entertainment Authority, said the results reflect the authority's success in building an integrated regulatory ecosystem spanning legislation, service quality, oversight and investor enablement, helping to cement the Kingdom's standing as one of the fastest-growing entertainment markets in the world.
