The Ministry of Culture believes in the importance of the Arabian Peninsula as a center of civilization and in its active role in shaping and developing Arabic poetry in ancient and modern times. Arabic poetry has become a unique art form of great interest to Arabs, reflected in their poems, styles and rich content.

Under Saudi Vision 2030, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, the Ministry of Culture seeks to reinforce the unique place of Arabic poetry in the culture of individuals and society, to enrich sustainable, evolving poetic creativity in all its forms, and to affirm its prominent place in world poetry.

In 2023, the Ministry of Culture is celebrating the "Year of Arabic Poetry" through numerous events, activities and initiatives organized throughout the year in cooperation with all relevant bodies and the local community. The aim is to revive the history of Arabic poetry, strengthen its presence in human civilization, lay the foundations for its future richness, and affirm Saudi Arabia's role as a patron and supporter of Arab culture and the arts. The ministry also regards contemporary Saudi poetry as a distinctive cultural component of the Arab world and takes pride in its prominent standing.
