Second Edition of Harf Competition Launches to Support Arabic Language Under Vision 2030 Goals
The second edition of the Harf Arabic Language Competition, organized by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, launches on November 3, 2024, to boost the presence of the Arabic language and support its learning and development in line with the goals of the Human Capability Development Program, one of the programs supporting Saudi Vision 2030. The competition is a unique platform targeting learners of Arabic as a second language, particularly those studying at language institutes and centers in Saudi public and private universities, as well as community centers.
Registration for the competition opened on August 25 and ran until September 15, giving contestants the opportunity to apply in three main categories: a beginner category for beginner participants and high school students, an intermediate category for undergraduate students, and an advanced category for graduate students (master's degree and above).
The competition includes four specialized fields:
- Lexical Competence: for the beginner category, to measure their language knowledge through vocabulary and meaning.
- Language and Technology: for the intermediate category, focusing on using creativity and modern technology to produce videos explaining modern language platforms or applications.
- Language and Cultural Communication: for the intermediate and advanced categories, aiming to build public speaking, presentation, improvisation and storytelling skills.
- Research Paper: for the advanced category, requiring participants to write a research paper meeting the standards set by the judging committee.
The initiative aims to support linguistic and cultural momentum and strengthen the vital role of the Arabic language in Saudi and global academic and cultural communities.
