Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission Celebrates Ten New Authors Through Writers' Incubator Program
The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission has wrapped up the first edition of its "Writers' Incubator" program, attended by Commission President Dr. Mohammed Hasan Alwan, as part of the "Uncommon Literary Genres" initiative. The ambitious program seeks to develop Saudi literary talent and enrich the local cultural scene with diverse literary output. This edition produced ten new authors representing a wide range of literary genres, including memoir, travel writing, science fiction, mystery and crime, and graphic novels for adults.
The year-long Writers' Incubator program targeted 40 candidates chosen from 400 Saudi applicants, selected by a judging panel based on standout literary drafts. The program was divided into two six-month incubation phases, giving participants an intensive opportunity to hone their literary skills under the guidance of seven literary mentors, 32 trainers, and 14 speakers specializing in fields such as creative writing, narrative techniques, film adaptation, as well as literary agency and publishing.
During the program, the incubator partnered with Rasm Publishing and Distribution, which supported the publishing, production and printing process, helping deliver the participating authors' first releases in a professional setting.
Closing Ceremony and the Ten-Pavilion Exhibition
The Commission closed the program with a ceremony attended by a large audience of readers and critics, which included an exhibition of ten literary pavilions where the authors presented their work to the public and took part in book-signing sessions. The event drew strong interest from literature and culture enthusiasts, who praised the Commission's efforts to support and encourage young writers and expressed interest in learning more about the program's next edition.
