The Fourth Saudi International Physical Therapy Conference has concluded in Riyadh, organized by the Saudi Physical Therapy Association under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz. Held over three days under the theme "The Future of Physical Therapy: Redefining Practice Between Innovation and Digital Integration," the conference drew more than 1,500 visitors and specialists, with 50 local and international speakers taking part.

  • 86 research posters showcasing key innovations in the field.
  • 46 hours of accredited continuing education for specialists.
  • The signing of seven cooperation agreements with government and private entities, most notably a partnership with the Association for Children with Disabilities to provide comprehensive solutions.

Conference recommendations

The conference concluded with several recommendations aimed at developing the physical therapy field in the Kingdom, including:

  1. Developing a unified national strategic plan for the physical therapy specialty.
  2. Expanding remote physical therapy services to reach more patients.
  3. Integrating artificial intelligence and modern technology to improve practice efficiency.
  4. Shifting toward a value-based healthcare model.
  5. Supporting scientific research and evidence-based practices while boosting data-sharing between relevant bodies.

Future plans

Dr. Abdulfattah bin Saeed Al-Qahtani, president of the Saudi Physical Therapy Association, announced that preparations have begun for the fifth conference in 2025, affirming the association's commitment to continuing its leading role in developing the healthcare sector and achieving excellence in rehabilitation services.
