Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University launched its 16th Annual Scientific Symposium, titled "Translational Research: The Future of Healthcare," organized by the College of Dentistry in cooperation with the Translational Medical Sciences Research Center. The symposium was held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Province, with the participation of leading local and international specialists.

Quality Workshops and Lectures

The symposium included:

  • 8 workshops with local and international experts.
  • 23 scientific lectures, delivered by 8 international speakers and 15 local lecturers from prestigious institutions such as the National Institutes of Health and Johns Hopkins University.
  • Participation by 800 specialists and students, including deans of dentistry colleges in the Kingdom and dental associations in the Eastern Province.

Translational Research: A Bridge Between the Lab and the Clinic

Dr. Jehan Al-Humaid, Dean of the College of Dentistry and head of the organizing committee, explained that translational research seeks to accelerate turning basic research into clinical applications — starting with lab studies of products, moving through clinical trials, and reaching manufacturing and practical application. These efforts aim to improve quality of life and strengthen the sustainability of healthcare.

Educational and Knowledge Benefits

  • The symposium offers more than 60 accredited educational hours from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  • It includes an accompanying exhibition showcasing the latest innovations in the field, alongside a scientific poster competition.

Opening of the Translational Medical Sciences Research Center

The symposium coincided with the opening of the Translational Medical Sciences Research Center, a significant addition aimed at strengthening the Kingdom's capacity to move innovations from the laboratory to clinical application, supporting Saudi Vision 2030's goal of achieving quality and sustainable healthcare.
