Day six of the Riyadh Theater Festival, in its second edition, held on December 22, 2024, featured a diverse cultural program combining in-depth intellectual seminars with distinguished theatrical shows that enriched attendees and ignited the spirit of creativity.

An Intellectual Seminar on the Sustainability of Arab Theater

Activities opened with a dialogue seminar titled "Contemporary Theater in the Arab World: Between Creativity and Sustainability," bringing together a select group of thinkers and creatives, including Dr. Kamel Al-Alaoui from Tunisia and Dr. Lina Abyad from Lebanon, moderated by media personality Sultan Al-Nuwah.

The seminar discussed the challenges facing Arab theater, particularly regarding artistic and environmental sustainability. Dr. Al-Alaoui reviewed the evolution of theater since the Greek era, through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, up to the influence of Emile Zola, who sparked an artistic and intellectual revolution against Impressionism.

Dr. Abyad, for her part, addressed how to improve theatrical production by applying sustainability techniques such as recycling waste and digital printing, enabling theater to achieve a deep artistic impact while reducing its environmental footprint.

Theatrical Shows Blending Reality and Fantasy

"A Grandson for Rent"

The play "A Grandson for Rent" offered a bold social experience in a refined style, presenting an interactive plot that spotlights the eternal conflict between the ambition of the poor and the greed of the rich. It addressed, with distinctive artistic style, the dreams and challenges facing people in a world full of deception and exploitation.

"Tawq"

The play "Tawq" presented the story of five employees facing the monotony of daily work in an office. Through a dramatic plot focused on their internal struggles, the show delivered a profound message about breaking free from the constraints of time and overcoming boredom with boldness and creativity.

Strong Engagement with the Closing Events

Day six's activities concluded with a range of events combining artistic creativity and theatrical innovation, drawing a large public turnout. The engagement with the shows and dialogues reflected the festival's spirit of combining artistic excellence with cultural depth, boosting the Riyadh Theater Festival's standing as a leading cultural event in the region.
