The Najran branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture launched on Thursday, 26 December 2024, a comprehensive awareness campaign on public-benefit market regulations and controls, attended by the ministry's director-general of marketing and agricultural associations, Eng. Ibrahim bin Khalil Al-Khalil, and the branch's director-general, Eng. Mareeh bin Sharea Al-Shahrani, with wide participation from government and private entities. The campaign aims to raise awareness among agricultural and veterinary practitioners and investors in public-benefit markets, alongside protecting consumers and ensuring the quality and safety of food products.

Goals and Awareness Messages of the Campaign

The campaign focused on:

  • Educating agricultural and veterinary practitioners on the applicable regulations and controls.
  • Introducing beneficiaries to ministry services such as the "Midani" platform and its role in facilitating agricultural and veterinary production processes.
  • Raising awareness among service providers in public-benefit markets about work regulations, licensing and health requirements.
  • Highlighting the role of agricultural cooperative societies in supporting producers.
  • Explaining pesticide-residue detection techniques and how to handle them to ensure food product safety.

Accompanying Exhibition: A Platform for Awareness and Partnership

The exhibition accompanying the campaign included 16 booths, with government and private entities and investors from various sectors taking part, such as:

  • The production and sale of honey, citrus and dates.
  • A showcase of processed products with economic returns.
  • Awareness corners on public-benefit market services and food safety.

Officials' Remarks

Eng. Ibrahim Al-Khalil said the campaign aims to introduce farmers, veterinarians and consumers to the benefits guaranteed under the Agriculture Law, with a focus on compliance with executive regulations to benefit all parties and ensure the availability of safe, high-quality agricultural products.

Eng. Mareeh Al-Shahrani stressed the importance of education in ensuring agricultural products are free of contaminants, harmful fertilizers and pesticides, in a way that builds consumer trust.

The event closed with the honoring of participating entities, in recognition of their effective role in the campaign's success and in promoting a culture of compliance with regulations and health requirements.
