Sarawat Mountains: Cool Towns and Villages Draw Visitors Escaping the Summer Heat
The Sarawat Mountains, which stretch from Taif Governorate in the north to the city of Abha in the south, have succeeded in attracting thousands of tourists from inside and outside the Kingdom thanks to their cool, cloudy climate and green mountains.
As tourists head south along the mountainsides after leaving Taif, they see the Sarawat Mountains covered in green trees beneath cloudy skies. On reaching Maysan Governorate, perched on the mountain peaks, they enter Al Baha, where they find overcast skies, cool weather and giant projects aimed at expanding tourism.

In Al Baha, tourists can enjoy the forests, valleys and ravines of the Sarat peaks and Baljurashi, before moving on to Al Namas and Tanomah governorates to enjoy towering mountains with an ancient history, spectacular scenery and traditional food.
Before leaving the area, visitors should taste Mashghouthah, a traditional dish served in the towns of Bani Shehr on the slopes of the Hajr mountains.
Tourists can then enjoy mountains covered in dense forests and conifers, along with fresh air, in the towns of Bal Qarn, Shamran, Bani Amr, Billasmar and Billahmar. Finally, they reach Abha, the capital of the Asir region, where they can take in the towering mountains and visit Art Street, the Tuesday Market and Khamis Mushait.
These natural areas have been turned into distinctive tourist destinations with the help of the relevant authorities, under the supervision and follow-up of the regional governors. They aim to attract tourists from inside and outside the Kingdom and to become a go-to destination in summer.
