As part of the Jazan Book Fair 2025 programme, organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission under the theme "Jazan Reads," a "Rock Art" workshop was held, offering a rich experience for art and heritage enthusiasts and shedding light on the artistic methods and techniques used in rock carvings across different eras.

The workshop analyzed symbols and carved inscriptions reflecting features of life and culture in the Arabian Peninsula during ancient times, reviewing the Kingdom's most famous archaeological sites, such as Jubbah in Hail, Tayma, and Tabuk, which house inscriptions and historical writings spanning thousands of years. Among the most notable of these inscriptions was the Musnad script, one of the oldest Arabic scripts, considered a testament to the development of writing and documentation in the region.

The workshop also discussed research efforts to preserve rock art and its role in documenting human history and understanding the development of ancient societies. Participants stressed the importance of these arts as an authentic part of the Kingdom's cultural identity, noting that such events help boost heritage awareness and stimulate literary and artistic creativity among future generations.

The workshop saw wide turnout from researchers and those interested in archaeology and rock art, who praised its rich content and the valuable information it offered about the artistic and cultural history of the Arabian Peninsula. The event is part of a series of initiatives aimed at reviving cultural and artistic heritage and boosting knowledge of the Kingdom's deep-rooted history.
