Qunfudhah, May 1, 2025 (3 Dhul Qadah 1446 AH)

Under the gracious patronage of HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah Region, the 14th Mango Festival opened today in Qunfudhah Governorate, one of the region's leading agricultural and tourism events. The festival was inaugurated by Qunfudhah Governor Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Qabbaa.

Running for three days, the festival celebrates the mangoes for which Qunfudhah is famous, blending agricultural promotion with entertainment and cultural activities that reflect the governorate's rich rural character.

Qunfudhah: Saudi Arabia's Mango Basket

Qunfudhah ranks among the Kingdom's most important agricultural areas, home to more than 4,288 mango farms containing over 520,000 trees. These orchards produce more than 52,000 tonnes a year of top local and international varieties, including Julie, Keitt, Zebda, Sensation and Tommy Atkins, putting the governorate at the forefront of the country's mango production.

Eng. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Khalif, director general of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's branch in Makkah Region, said the festival serves as a platform for marketing local agricultural products, supports farmers, raises production quality, and strengthens Qunfudhah's standing as a promising agricultural, tourism and development hub in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture through its Qunfudhah office, as part of the ministry's efforts to encourage local agriculture, develop rural areas and strengthen food security.
