Makkah, June 1, 2025 (5 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446H) — The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has announced the launch of a project to translate the Day of Arafah sermon into 34 world languages, one of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' key initiatives for the 1446H Hajj season, part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to convey Islam's message of moderation to peoples around the world and strengthen civilizational and religious ties with Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

The project aims to provide an instant, live translation of the sermon delivered from Mount Arafah using the latest digital technology, allowing pilgrims and a global audience to listen to the Arafah sermon in their native language from anywhere in the world — reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to the principle of clear conveyance of the message, and its role in embedding the values of peace, tolerance and unity.

The initiative is considered one of the largest projects of its kind in the Islamic world. It relies on QR codes distributed to pilgrims via screens on buses and in hotels, as well as at facilities across the holy sites, in addition to digital distribution through the Presidency's own platforms and those of government bodies, in cooperation with the Ministry of Media to ensure the translation reaches international media outlets.

The project targets four main audiences: pilgrims who do not speak Arabic; visitors and residents in the Kingdom; the Presidency's government partners; and local and international media organizations.

The Presidency said the project reflects the Kingdom's leading role in serving the Two Holy Mosques and its commitment to harnessing technology and innovation to deliver the message of Hajj to the widest possible number of Muslims across the continents, reinforcing its global standing as a centre of religious and humanitarian outreach.
