The curtain fell last night in Riyadh on the play "Under the Sawahi," staged by the Riyadh Society of Culture and Arts in partnership with the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, as part of a series of artistic initiatives aimed at empowering national talent and supporting Saudi Arabia's theater scene.

The play ran at the Society's theater from June 12 to 14, 2025, drawing a distinguished audience of artists, critics and theater specialists who praised its blend of realistic social storytelling and contemporary creative treatment.

"Under the Sawahi" drew its story from real events, tackling social issues through an innovative dramatic approach that captures the pulse of society and its challenges. The production reflects the Society's push to support local theatrical content creators and highlight young voices capable of expressing themselves through refined artistic language.

Theater artist Abdulaziz Al-Fraih served as artistic supervisor for the production, with Nasser Al-Buraidi directing and Wijdan Shaker as assistant director, leading a young team dedicated to delivering a complete theatrical creative experience.

The production is one of several theatrical initiatives contributing to the development of the Kingdom's cultural and artistic scene, offering quality works that enrich local content and support pathways for empowering national talent, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 for the culture sector.
