In a step reflecting positive shifts in the Arab media landscape, the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), chaired by Saudi Arabia, has announced the reactivation of its media activity in the Syrian Arab Republic, as part of a new strategic vision aimed at strengthening cooperation and media integration among Arab states and expanding the Union's geographic footprint on both a professional and investment level.

The announcement came during the 113th meeting of ASBU's Executive Council, attended by representatives of member states, where the meeting discussed developments in joint Arab media work and the Union's development plans for the current year, amid regional and international changes affecting the media landscape.

Unified Political and Media Support

Fahad Al-Harithy, ASBU president and CEO of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority, said the decision embodies the spirit of Arab openness toward Syria, drawing inspiration from the stance of His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who played the leading role in Syria's return to its natural Arab environment and opening a new chapter of joint Arab action.

Al-Harithy said in his remarks: "Today at the Union, we are building on what His Royal Highness the Crown Prince began with an inclusive, humanitarian approach, through media that we believe serves as a bridge for communication, a platform for enlightenment, and a tool for sustainable development and community awareness."

A Digital Leap via ASBU Cloud

Al-Harithy also reviewed the Union's technical and media achievements this year, notably the expansion of news and program content exchange through the ASBU Cloud platform, which has brought about a qualitative shift in enabling member organizations to exchange media material instantly, securely and on a wide scale.

Praise for International and Regional Turnout

Al-Harithy thanked Iraq for the support and facilities that contributed to the success of the recent Arab Media Conference, which saw unprecedented international attendance, cementing the conference's standing as an independent Arab media platform capable of representing Arab media in global forums.

Toward a Sustainable Arab Media Model

The meeting also featured a comprehensive presentation on the Union's activities, including media training programs, coverage of major regional and international events, investment initiatives in digital media, and plans to develop partnerships with international platforms.

This step is one of the pillars of the Union's development vision, to build a flexible, digital and sustainable Arab media model capable of carrying the Arab voice to the world efficiently and professionally.
