Dr. Abdullatif Al-Wasel, CEO of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, affirmed that Madinah International Book Fair 2025 represents a genuine extension of the Kingdom's renewed cultural vision, and is one of the most prominent civilizational platforms embodying the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a knowledge society that values reading and boosts local publishing.

Al-Wasel explained that the fair serves as a vital arena for empowering Saudi publishers and expanding access to printed books, through facilitating display and distribution and providing an interactive marketing environment, making books a focal point for creating open cultural dialogue between authors and readers.

He noted that this year's fair features quality initiatives that boost its community presence, most notably:

  • Dedicating an area for discounted books, to provide knowledge content at affordable prices
  • Developing technical and organizational services to deliver a smooth, smart visitor experience
  • A comprehensive cultural program hosting figures from the literary and intellectual scenes to discuss topics ranging from literature to arts and thought

Al-Wasel affirmed that the growing cultural momentum Madinah is witnessing reflects cultural entities' commitment to establishing the city's status as a leading knowledge destination, and boosts the fair's role as a bridge between the city's rich knowledge past and the cultural future the Kingdom is building through empowering policies and stimulating environments.

Al-Wasel added that the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission seeks, through this fair, to stimulate cultural production, support local content, and build interactive platforms that allow the community across its various segments to participate in shaping the new cultural scene, affirming that the fair is one of the tools for achieving the commission's goals in delivering knowledge and widening the circle of reading and learning.
