Saudi Film Commission Represents the Kingdom at the Locarno Film Festival 2025 to Promote National Talent and Productions
Locarno | 13 Safar 1447H, corresponding to 7 August 2025. The Film Commission has announced its participation in the Locarno International Film Festival 2025, held in the Swiss city of Locarno from 6 to 16 August 2025, one of Europe's most prominent film festivals dedicated to discovering rising talent and supporting independent productions since its founding in 1946.
The Locarno Festival is known for its focus on experimental and art-house cinema, alongside debut works by promising directors, making it a distinguished global platform that gives filmmakers the chance to meet peers from around the world and screen their work before a discerning cinema audience.
The Commission's participation comes as part of its strategic plan to strengthen the Kingdom's standing on the global film scene and showcase its national talent and creative productions reflecting the Kingdom's cultural and environmental diversity, as well as promoting it as an ideal filming location for international productions thanks to its varied geography and advanced infrastructure.
The participation program includes an official delegation from the Commission alongside a group of Saudi filmmakers, who will benefit from the festival's events, workshops and accompanying professional programs, as part of the Commission's support for independent and non-commercial films and its efforts to help national talent integrate into the international film scene.
The Commission affirmed that this step represents an opportunity to strengthen the Saudi presence at major film events and expand international cooperation networks, contributing to Vision 2030's goals of making the film sector an effective cultural and economic driver.
