Riyadh | 7 August 2025. The Music Commission has announced the organization of the first edition of "Al-Tar Festival" in the capital Riyadh, running from 20 to 23 August on the Abu Bakr Salem Stage in the Boulevard district, coinciding with the Esports World Cup, lending the city a festive atmosphere blending sport, art and culture.

The festival is a notable step in celebrating Saudi musical heritage, shining a spotlight on the tar (frame drum), one of the most prominent symbols of national musical identity, given its historical role in folk arts and in weddings and heritage seasons.

The festival's program includes rich artistic activities and events, featuring corners inspired by the musical-instruments market ("Souq Al-Hilla"), interactive experiences letting visitors get up close with the tar and try it themselves, alongside dedicated photo spots and an inspiring entertainment atmosphere. The festival also opens its doors to local talent for live performances, strengthening the connection between artists and audiences and supporting Saudi creativity on the cultural scene.

Al-Tar Festival is a distinguished cultural window reflecting the balance between preserving Saudi musical heritage and embracing a modern lifestyle, as well as playing a role in strengthening Riyadh's status as a major destination for cultural and artistic festivals, drawing visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom.

Through this event, the Music Commission affirms its commitment to showcasing and developing Saudi musical culture, providing platforms to empower talent, spreading awareness of musical heritage, and cementing its status as part of the national identity, in harmony with Vision 2030.
