From international energy discussions to property exhibitions, motorsport and falconry, Saudi Arabia's events calendar brought together a varied programme during Sunday 11 to Saturday 17 October 2026. This review covers selected developments verified by publication time, separating events and results from forthcoming programmes and continuing postponements. It is not an exhaustive census of every event in the Kingdom.

Riyadh: WPC closes and hands the next Congress to Astana

The 25th WPC Energy Congress concluded on 15 October after its 11–15 October programme, with representatives from 135 countries. The closing ceremony handed the 26th edition to Kazakhstan, with Astana due to host it on 11–15 June 2028. The Congress formed part of Energy Week in Riyadh, alongside international clean-energy and innovation meetings. Source: SPA; Details' closing report.

WPC Energy, the organisation behind the Congress series, is a non-political organisation with UK charitable status. Riyadh Front Exhibition and Conference Centre hosted this year's edition. The organisation and the venue therefore have distinct roles. Official Congress information.

Another tangible outcome was recognition for six winning teams in the Ministry of Energy’s first Energy Hackathon, across operational efficiency, transformative innovation and intelligent control. This practical strand complemented the policy discussions by highlighting teams developing solutions for the sector. Official closing report.

The Seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation opened on 11 October. Organised by the King Salman Center for Disability Research, its 11–13 October programme took place at InterContinental Riyadh. The opening included recognition of winners of the fourth King Salman International Award for Disability Research, highlighting the link between scientific research and practical improvements for people with disabilities. This was a separate event from the disability-equipment exhibition scheduled later in the year. Official opening report.

Al-Ahsa: opening-round autocross results

On 12 October, SPA reported the results of the opening Saudi Toyota Autocross Championship round, which attracted 49 drivers to the parking area at Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Ahsa. Falconry: a measured result from the fourth auction night

Two juvenile peregrine falcons sold for a combined SAR374,000 on 15 October, the fourth night of the National Falcon Center auction. A falcon caught in Jazan fetched SAR193,000, while one from Al-Uwayqilah sold for SAR181,000. The total relates to those two sales, not the entire season. The Center organises the auction, with local-catch intake continuing until 30 November according to the official announcement. Source: SPA.

Jeddah: Hazi Misr Prime reaches its final day

The 32nd Hazi Misr Prime edition runs at Raffles Jeddah on 15–17 October, with Saturday visits scheduled to end at 10pm. Riyadh: the racing season's opening weekend

The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia announced racing's return to King Abdulaziz Racecourse on 15 October. Its calendar lists Saturday 17 October as day two of the opening weekend. The Club is responsible for organising and developing Saudi horseracing. Entries available at the time of preparing this review are not being presented as final Saturday race results. Next week's agenda: agriculture, shipping and sound

Saudi Agriculture, organised by Riyadh Exhibitions Company, takes place on 19–22 October at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Its conference programme includes controlled-environment agriculture, artificial intelligence and robotics, with representatives from Dutch Greenhouse Delta, TTA-ISO and Hoogendoorn. Their role is to contribute sector expertise and technology perspectives; participation does not make them the exhibition organisers. Official programme.

In Jeddah, Details' coverage published on 15 October examined fuel and ship-security sessions ahead of the Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress on 21–22 October. The official Congress website confirms those dates and Jeddah Superdome as the venue. This is a preview of a forthcoming programme, rather than results from an event held during the review week.

Hayy Jameel is also taking registrations for sessions at Red Wind, Sonic Residues on 22–24 October, the closing programme for Red Wind, Coral Worlds. Talks, listening sessions and performances include contributions from Frequency Room, KNZ Records, Bohemia Records and Ostinato Records to a discussion of the future of Red Sea music. Hayy Jameel programme.

Dates reviewed in this week’s coverage

On 12 October, Details reported updated dates for the World Stadiums and Arenas Summit, now 10–11 January 2027 at Hilton Riyadh, and ITTEC, now 9–10 November 2026 at Fairmont Riyadh. Both official websites currently confirm these dates. The coverage date does not establish when organisers made their decisions, and no unannounced reason for the changes is attributed to them. Schedule watch: existing postponements, not new announcements this week

MIPIM Middle East's official page confirms rescheduling to 2027, without specifying replacement days at the time of this review. The old 20–21 October 2026 dates still visible elsewhere on that page should therefore not be treated as the current schedule. Organiser's notice.

The inaugural Esports Nations Cup also remains postponed from November 2026 to November 2027, under an Esports Foundation announcement dated 18 August. This is included as a calendar reminder, not a postponement announced during this review week. No unannounced individual dates are inferred. Official announcement.

The week's picture: measurable results, research meetings and commercial exhibitions sit alongside programmes still being prepared. Distinguishing organisers from partners and exhibitors, and confirmed dates from postponements, remains essential to understanding the events calendar accurately.
