Dammam Regional Museum opened on 24 Rajab 1405 AH (1985) within the regional-museums network under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Fahd, and today belongs to the Museums Commission, occupying its current premises at the Dammam Public Library. It has six galleries on the antiquities, heritage and natural history of the Eastern Province from prehistory to modern times, plus the Governor of the Eastern Province hall opened in 1421 AH.
The foundation stone of the museum's new building at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Park on the waterfront was laid in June 2011, on 4,000 square metres with seven galleries in a spiral design, and work on the project resumed in December 2023.
