Mount Uhud is one of Madinah's most famous mountains, lying to the north about 4 to 5 kilometres from the Prophet's Mosque, about 1,077 metres high and some 7 kilometres long, with red granite and hollows that hold rainwater. Its foot was the scene of the Battle of Uhud in 3 AH, and it holds the cemetery of the seventy martyrs of Uhud led by Hamzah bin Abdulmuttalib, the Archers' Hill, the Sayyid Al-Shuhada Mosque and Al-Fash Mosque.
Madinah Region Municipality is developing the "Smart Mount Uhud Zone" to organise visits, and the mountain's surroundings hosted the launch of the Prophet's Hijrah Route project and the "In His Footsteps" experience on 27 January 2025.
