Raum Castle crowns the summit of Jabal Raum south-west of Najran at about 1,000 metres. It was built in 1348 AH (1929) as a watch and defence post and served that role until 1372 AH (1953). Built of stone and mud and roofed with sidr, tamarisk and palm timber, it was restored by the Heritage Commission, which rebuilt the stone staircase leading up to it.
The castle offers visitors a view over the city and Wadi Najran, and Jabal Raum was included among the venues of the Najran Summer Festival 2026.
