About the venue

Quba Mosque is the first mosque founded in Islam, in the first year of the Hijrah (622), located in the Quba district south-west of Madinah, 3.5 kilometres from the Prophet's Mosque. The King Fahd expansion of 1405 to 1407 AH rebuilt it with a 5,000-square-metre prayer hall in a 13,500-square-metre complex holding 20,000 worshippers, with four minarets and 56 domes.

The King Salman Project for the Expansion of Quba Mosque, announced on 8 April 2022, raises its area tenfold to 50,000 square metres and its capacity to 66,000 worshippers, with shaded courtyards on all four sides and the revival of the surrounding historic paths, under the Madinah Region Development Authority. The Madinah branch of the Society for Culture and Arts sits next to the mosque.
