Najran's House of Culture Marks World Camel Day With an Event Celebrating Heritage and Raising Awareness
In an occasion reflecting the Kingdom's pride in its deep heritage and history tied to camels, the House of Culture in Najran organized a cultural event at its headquarters east of the city, celebrating World Camel Day, marked on June 22 each year, with notable community participation and interest from people of all ages.
The event included educational and awareness programs highlighting the historical and cultural importance of camels, with a number of local camel owners introducing attendees to different camel breeds and their unique traits, as well as showcasing milk and dairy products and explaining the camel's role in achieving food security and contributing to a sustainable economy.
The event included:
- A heritage art corner featuring handmade works inspired by camel life, blending authenticity with modern creativity.
- An interactive workshop for children, where they learned about camel characteristics and took part in designing models using clay and dough, aimed at instilling heritage concepts in an entertaining, educational way.
- Information corners highlighting the health and nutritional importance of camels, through informational brochures and dairy-product tastings.
Organizers said the initiative reflects the House of Culture's commitment to raising community awareness of the camel's importance as a national symbol with prominent historical and cultural standing, alongside promoting sustainability and food diversity, in line with Saudi Vision 2030's goals of protecting national heritage and strengthening animal food security.
